You Are Beautiful | Kellie Blinco Photography
I recently photographed 12 exceptional women in 1 hour for a shoot for Raw Energy and Wellness Centre
This shoot is different to what I usually do for clients – connecting with someone in less than 5 mins to produce a beautiful portrait is a hard task, but I believed deep down that while I wouldn’t be able to give the ladies the absolute best of my work in 5 minutes, I could give them everything I had and give them the best of myself and show them that they are beautiful
After the shoot, I was speaking with some of the ladies, about how much I love revealing the results from sessions because it is like, for some people, they are seeing themselves for the very time
The more I reflected on what I do and womens beauty shoots i have done in the past I realised that in some small way, I really am privileged to play a small role in the way the see themselves.
After a taking a year pretty much off from shooting after moving to Perth, I thought really hard about what made me love what I was doing. It always came back to the moments of photo reveals for the women I have had come through the studio. I will never forget a single reveal I have done from beauty sessions. The moment they see themselves, its truly amazing
I wanted to share that with everyone. This project was meant to be a small marketing video for beauty shoots – but it took on a life of its own. And the message is larger than I ever imagined it would be
Spirited Space | Film Photography Perth
I photographed a few details and a women’s circle for local Yanchep business, Spirited Space
Let me just tell you how amazing Anita is – I went and saw her for an energy alignment in January, after feeling just a little bit lost after moving across the countryside. She is truly amazing and I very quickly found my mojo and became crystal clear about what I wanted to do. Sometimes, we get a little bit caught up in listening to our ego brains and find ourselves in a state of total self doubt, complete frustration and cant even work out what the hell we are doing in our lives. She took away all my blocks and my energy has been flowing in abundance ever since! I feel excited about my business, I am having fun shooting and I am heading towards my goals in leaps and bounds. And I am in love with the process I am going through now
Here are a few of the film photographs I took on my new love, the contax 645. Its a real journey getting to know this camera and film again. Its keeping me very interested and there is such beauty in its imperfection <3

Yanchep Couples Photography
We are pretty lucky here in Yanchep, Western Australia. Such beautiful beaches that I make the most of on a daily basis!
My sister and her boyfriend came over from QLD to visit us and she wanted to do a couples shoot while she was here.
We happened to choose an afternoon where the universe delivered us some of the most beautiful skies and pastel goodness that any photographer would be thrilled about.
This is part one of the session we photographed at Yanchep that afternoon.
I really love working with couples <3

Bennet Family | Family Photography
This was shot a few years ago, so its a little late to the blog party!
Taneil, Steve, Jase and Logan all dressed up in the sunlight on a country road.
The moments in between
I have had a pretty amazing year in 2015 as far as the awards go! Firstly with WA Epson Awards – you can see those results here and most recently, the national awards – APPA (Australian Professional Photography Awards)
I love and hate the awards process! But over the few years I have been entering, it has quickly become a process that to me, is an important one for my growth and development as a professional photographer.
The moment of judgement, when your print comes around, (that moment when your heart is jumping out through your mouth 😮 ) is pretty much the reason to put yourself out there. The honest, non biased, opinions from 5 industry experts, is something you just cant get from anywhere else. It is the invaluable scores and comment outcomes that will either have you crying tears of happiness, or curling up on the ground in the fetal position, rocking back and forth. But at the end of it, the highs and the lows, always brings you back to the same train of thought. How will I do this better next year. Something to aim for really gets a person motivated to push on and keep moving in the direction of up!
This year, I have got my best APPA result so far, with one Silver Award, On Silver with distinction Award and one Gold Award. One print scored a 75, which is a professional standard, but not an award. To achieve gold for one of my prints, is something I never dreamed even possible.
The web doesn’t really do any images justice (ever) My award images were printed by Perth Pro Lab and the finished product is something I am really proud to show people – thanks Paul!
Family Category – Silver with Distinction – 86
Family Category – Silver Award – 81
Portrait Category – Gold – 92
Seeing as though this image and its gold achievement is definitely a highlight for me, I want to tell you about why it is such a highlight. I was unsure if my take on this portrait would even be understood, I was pretty scared they would look at it and be completely unhappy with the lack of light on the subjects face. I was afraid they would miss that this is a portrait of anorexia, not the subject herself. I was over the moon when the judges dissected this image and the words they said during discussion and how they interpreted it couldn’t have been relayed better if I had written a in depth description for them to read out. I like to tell stories, I like create images that make you feel something, so to have one succeed on that level, is something I couldn’t be happier about
And lastly, despite scoring 84 at state, this one came in at 75 at APPA. 75 is not an award, but is in the range of Professional Standard.
Yanchep Family Session | Carla Duncan Kieran
Here is a few favs from a recent Yanchep Family session with Carla, Duncan and Kieran
I adored working with these three in a simplistic style session to capture them as the beautiful family as they are! Little Kieran is such a gorgeous little guy who was more interested in exploring his new found surroundings
Another beautiful afternoon well spent here in Yanchep
Yanchep Newborn Session / Ruby
Beautiful Little Ruby <3 We did a few different things for Mum and Dad, Emma and Matt for Ruby’s Photo’s. Including some indoor and outdoor shots.
I really enjoyed shooting outdoors on the beach for half of the shots, thankful for beautiful weather that afternoon and a sleepy Ruby!
Congrats Emma and Matt on your sweet baby girl!
Lets start with a few film photos

Chase and Zara are the MOST adorable brother sister duo I have ever met! They are so close, their sibling bond is unbreakable and it was so lovely to watch them hang out with one another on the beach in Yanchep, doing their thing.
Walking away from sessions like this one, I always end up contemplating – when do we, as ( supposed 😛 ) grown ups, lose the magic that kids have? Chase and Zara like all my little clients – are always so full of life, laughter and they are not afraid to be just who they are! In front of the camera or just in chatting with them.
Some where along the line, we start to become aware that other people may have opinions about us, or we start to feel a little inadequate because someone tells us we are. Things become complicated and we start to worry and we sensor ourselves.
I always feel inspired after working with kids, to learn from them. And I really enjoy trying to capture that spirit in them, because we all know just how fleeting childhood is.
Thanks Chase and Zara <3
